Price Hill String Quartet

The Price Hill String Quartet (PHSQ), founded in 2012, is a classical chamber ensemble that offers a new model for community engagement and youth development. Acting on the idea that every neighborhood should have a professional string quartet, the PHSQ aims to make classical music perfromance and education an integral part of life and culture in Price Hill.

Founding members Laura Jekel (cello) and Eddy Kwon (violin) are graduates of the nation's top conservatories. In addition to performing frequently as soloists and collaborative musicians, they are passionate community-based educators who co-direct MYCincinnati. Scott Jackson (violin) and Stephen Goist (viola) are two of Cincinnati's most in-demand performers. As top students at the Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM) both have performed as soloists with the school's top orchestra.  Scott has won numerous competitions, including making it to the semi-finals of the Sphinx Competition in 2011 and 2012. Stephen was recently appointed a position with the Dayton Philharmonic.
